Job Summary

As an internist at Animal Referral Center you get to practice university level medicine in a supportive, friendly environment.  Our internists enjoy collaborating with other specialists in surgery, emergency & critical care, radiology, dermatology and ophthalmology.  We also have dedicated emergency clinicians working 24/7.  Our team of doctors share a desire to provide high level care to our patients and remarkable service to our clients and referring community.  As we grow our team we hope to find an internist who appreciates a mission driven environment as much as we do.


Internal Medicine at the Animal Referral Center

Our internists perform a wide variety of procedures and services.  If you do not have experience with some of the procedures or services listed below, we will cover the cost of training courses and we offer mentorship within our hospital.

●      Imaging:  ultrasound, CT, fluoroscopy

●      Scoping:  endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy

●      Chemotherapy

●      Echocardiography

●      Radioactive Iodine therapy

●      Bone marrow aspirates

●      CSF taps

●      Lithotripsy


Our internal medicine support team is very experienced.  They manage the logistics of our busy days so that our internists can focus on being internists.  Our certified technicians, competent assistants and care coordinators keep appointments, diagnostics and procedures running efficiently.  They skillfully handle a large amount of client communications, they enter fees and complete medical records. 


Animal Referral Center currently has two internists, each one works four days per weeks and have no on call responsibility. Spreading out our heavy caseload between three to four internists would allow for shorter days and easier time off.  So we are looking to add to our team so that all of our doctors can enjoy a healthy work-life balance. 




Qualifications and Desired Characteristics

●      Boarded ACVIM Diplomate, recently completed (or currently in) a small animal internal medicine residency

●      Desire to remain innovative in the field of veterinary internal medicine

●      Communication style that conveys confidence and compassion

●      Willingness to build strong, trusting relationships with referring practices

●      Ability to work efficiently with a skilled, dedicated support staff

●      Self-awareness and an appreciation for ones role in team dynamics

●      Interest in community involvement and service


Salary and Benefits

●      Production based pay and an annual minimum salary of $150,000

●     $25,000 signing bonus

●     Moving expense reimbursement up to $10,000

●     Two weeks paid vacation
